2026 FUND Run Course Route
Volunteer Instructions:
Some volunteers will be assigned a walkie-talkie radio. Please do not change the channel or allow children to play with the walkie talkie. It is to be used only in the event of an emergency or for questions about your assignment once you have arrived at your station.
• Please CHEER and ENCOURAGE the runners!
• You will be released from your position after the last runner has passed you for the final time. At some locations, runners will pass you more than once. Please reference the course map below.
• If you have been provided a reflective vest, wear it all times while directing runners/traffic.
• Please position yourself to be easily identified by runners.
• Motion with your arms and use your voice to direct runners. (Depending on your station, you may be passed by the same runners more than once.)
• Please stay at your post until the last runner of the race has passed you – A Staff person will come by to let you know.
• If there is a medical emergency, please call 911, then notify event staff via walkie talkie or cell phone.
For WATER STATION volunteers:
• You will have 1 table, 1 container of water, cups, and a trash bag.
o Fill cups with water. Place on the edge of table for participants to pick up as they pass by your station. You may offer filled cups to runners as they pass by (hold cups at bottom so they are easy to grab by runners).
o Check filled cups that have been sitting so that they do not get hot. Empty and refill cups with fresh drinks, as necessary.
o Do not stand in path of participants.
• Participants will throw used cups along their path after drinking, please pick up used cups in the vicinity of your station and throw them in the trash bags/cans provided.
• At the end of the event, please pour out the leftover water and clean up your area.
If you have any questions and cannot reach anyone by walkie talkie, please contact: Ashley Hunt, Scotland Memorial Foundation at (910) 280-4995.
Thank you so much for volunteering to be with us at the FUNd Run!
